i thought it was a pimple that wouldnt go away. just a little red spot, well the band aid came off today and i was shocked. I love the sun but will be more careful than i already am. luckily basal cell is common and can be taken care of if you catch it in time. glad it's where it is, it will heal and it will be ok. now i have to buy a hat  (sorry the big pics)

I'm glad they were able to give you clean margins, Linda.

A good PSA to all of us over 40, 50, 60, 70 - to not use a tanning bed, to use full sunscreen when outside, to wear a hat to shade our face, and to see a dermatologist regularly (thanks for the reminder to schedule my appointment).

That's scary. I have to schedule another visit with dermatologist....along with a few other docs.

Oh Linda...so glad you had this looked at and taken care of....yup...sunscreen every day, do not lay out in the sun in Aruba (please folks!!). Sit under a palapa...if it is color you want trust me you will get it without sitting directly in the sun....probably even under a palapa we are all getting more sun than we should (so why do I continue to be low in Vitamin D I ask my doctor ) Happy you will be fine and thank you for the reminder!

I also had Mohs surgery done - about 7-8 years ago in my mid 40's. My spot was to the left of my nose. It was in the crease that runs down from the bottom of your nose to the corner of your mouth so the scar is not visible and was about as long as yours. Even if it was not in that crease, it healed so well that I doubt it would be visible. I'm sure yours will heal just as well. It looks nice and neat. Having a boat, we spend tons of time in the sun, but I wear high number sunscreen and reapply often, as well as wearing a hat. Best of luck!

I too want to thank you for your PSA. Elaine and I have not been "beach and sun" people for many years now, but we know it doesn't have to be recent. A few years ago we started making regular visits to a dermatologist for "full body" scans. I have seborrheic dermatitis and keratosis on my face and scalp, requiring medication. An interesting part of my doctors office visits here in Georgia is that one of the nurses (and a friend) was the Homecoming Queen at the tiny high school I went to up in Ida, Michigan during my junior year back in 1964. She has not yet done my full-body scan, that has been Matt.......
