Lordy, lordy...another project done on Caribbean time.
We really do like that about visits to the island...but that place has been an eyesore for TOO long.

Every time I drive by during daytime, they are busy demolishing the buildings. Not much left now.

So sad to see it go, there was a restaurant on the grounds there called Tabasko. It was such a lovely place to have dinner. Oh well progress. I hope they put in a nice beach for all those cruise people!!! It would be the perfect spot, they get tired of swimming or basking in the sunshine, they could walk to town and shop!!!

Nobody who has paid dearly to vacation at a hotel or resort on Palm or Eagle Beach likes cruise people! They come in like locusts and take over. If we did to them what they do to people who are on their resort's beach you'd hear some screaming!

There's a nice, new snack shack, showers and basic needs facility, umbrella and chair rental set up on a beautiful stretch of Eagle Beach just north of Costa Linda. Cruisers are brought there for the day and it seems to work.

If the government ever gets done with the Bushiri site it is rumored to be made into a beach destination for buses and taxis loaded with cruisers. There will be a few kiosks for snacks and beverages, a couple of shower facilities and basic needs buildings, real palapas, and plenty of parking and turn around space for buses.

That's all I'm saying on this one.

I have a place at Paradise and it never fails, when a cruise ship is in cars, vans, buses pull into the parking area and stop right there, they don't proceed to pull forward a few 100 feet, always at the entrance. So we have to inhale the car/bus fumes, listen to vendor who is trying to make a buck argue with the cruise people. How relaxing is that? And if the cruise people don't want to rent a chair they will use one of the resorts or several. I have seen a whole family pile onto 1 lounge chair, who pays for that when they break it? I do.
Sorry this is NOT working leftyj. Yes there is a beautiful stretch of beach there but for some reason the chair rental people like to be on top of Paradise. And for some reason the buses/cars can't pull forward and unload further down, why?
I pray they rebuild the Bushiri area fast and let the cruise people go there!!

It's the government, hiding out.

Very well said. Palm beach is a disaster when they show up. Unfortunately, several of the snorkeling boats leave from Pelican Pier and DePalm pier. Until they move those, we will have to deal with the onslaught and overcrowding.

Last time I checked Aruba was a free country. I doubt they would implement laws forcing cruisers where to go . Also cruisers spend money I'm sure the merchants want the sales. Cruise ships do generate big money with an overall low impact on resources and the environment . They are a pain but only to other tourists . I see cruise ships from my balcony all the time in my city I think they are a great .
