January 10th 2010, Aruba.
ORANJESTAD-With the traditional baptism by the airport fire department, the aircraft of AirTran Airways from Orlando (Florida) was welcomed at the island's airport on January 9th 2010. The original plan of AirTran was to begin weekly direct flights between Orlando and Aruba as of February 13th 2010, but the date was moved to January 9th.
Orlando is Aruba's 13th United States gateway. AirTran is presently using the Boeing 737-700 aircraft for the route. The aircraft has a capacity for 125 economy class passengers, and 12 business class seats. AirTran is servicing the route once every week on a Saturday.
Orlando is a very interesting destination for the island of Aruba. Arubans consider Orlando one of their favorite destinations. The route has big potential to attract many passengers from Aruba who enjoy a visit to Disneyland, and other amusement parks near the city
Orlando is the second destination of AirTran for Aruba. The low budget carrier first began servicing Aruba from Atlanta on December 19th 2009. AirTran Holdings offer businessmen attractive fares, and it is one of the few air carriers to offer wireless internet on board each flight.
