Over 300 International Journalists To Arrive In Aruba
January 20th 2010, Aruba.
ORANJESTAD-Aruba is expected to receive over 300 international journalists and media representatives who will participate at the annual media conference organized by the Inter American Press Association (IAPA) in March 2010. It is the first time that the conference is being held on the island of Aruba.
Director of IAPA, Julio Munoz has met with the Prime Minister this week in preparation of the conference in March. IAPA was founded in 1942, and is one of the oldest press organizations in the World with over 2,500 journalists and media representatives as members. IAPA looks after the freedom of press in the United States, Canada, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. In addition, the organization has a press institute that technically guides the media in Latin America.
The IAPA press conference will be held from March 19th until March 22nd at the Westin Hotel on the island. During the conference many seminars will be given, including e-commerce, the relation with news media in Latin America, the online journalists platform, and the success of free online news sites.
The press organization is especially calling on Venezuelan journalists to participate at the conference, in view of the growing pressure on press freedom in that country. Journalists of the ABC islands who are not member of the organization can participate at the conference at a special fee.
