Baby Boom On The Day The Aruban Soil Shook
January 21st 2010, Aruba.
ORANJESTAD-Eleven new mothers gave birth to twelve babies at Dr. Horacio Oduber Hospital within 7 hours after a magnitude 4.5 earthquake shook the soil of the island on January 13th 2010. Spokesman of the hospital, Bob Harms calls it a remarkable and blessed day for the island. There have not been that many births on one day in such a short time lapse. What is even more remarkable is that 9 of the 12 babies born that day are girls, and Aruba’s first set of twins for 2010 are born on that same day.
There is an indication that the earthquake may have caused fright and led to the birth of so many babies at once, but that is pure speculation said Harms. There were no problems logistically in the care of the recently born babies.
